2012

April 16 -

Coach Gremore's long-awaited book should be available next month. The book, entitled "Nobody Sits the Bench: Community Weightlifting Programs", is described by Coach as a "nuts and bolts manual for putting together weightlifting programs". The book's chapters will cover safety, special equipment, teaching the basic exercises, teaching the basic lifts, drugs and nutrition, and more. Also featured will be information on the evolution of five of the nation's top lifting teams. The book will be priced at $19.95 plus shipping. Interested people should contact the PSAC.

The LWC Master and Novice Championship was held on March 31, 2012 at the Power Sports Athletic Center. 15 lifters travelled from Denmark, Madison, Green Bay, Appleton and Casenovia, WI to compete. Many records were broken, including an amazing 21 records set by young Mason Groehler!

The Power Sports Athletic Center will be undergoing a renovation this month. Coach Gremore will be overseeing an addition onto the gym expanding it from 1800 square feet to 2300.


2011

Mason Groehler is the youngest male athlete in Wisconsin History to hold records in the 62 kg. mens division. 

The Denmark athletes now have a record 6 athletes presently training who have won a national Jr. Olympic championship! 

For the first time in Wisconsin weightlifting history the 14-15 age team championship was won at a national event by Mason Groehler, Klein Vogel, Devin Bomski, and Zak Schwartz.  This was done Aug. 30 at the Jr. Olympics in New Orleans.

The Holiday Classic Weightlifting meet will be held on Dec. 17 at the Power Sports Athletic Center in Denmark.

Madison has placed a strong bid for the Youth National Championship (formerly known as the School Age Nationals). If the bid is accepted the tournament is tentaively scheduled for the third week of June, that would be the 18th, 19th and 20th. Keep your fingers crossed.

Steve Jarvis, one of our finest lifters, has been forced by injury issues to announce his forthcoming retirement from competitive weightlifting. Steve has been one of our best performing atheletes over the past ten years, and the team will miss him.

Results from the Power Sports Athletic Center's 2010 Holiday Classic

Torian Markvart set new School age Junior and Senior records.
Klein Vogel set new records in the 50 kg. class.
In the 56 kg. class Mason Groehler came out on top.
Brad Karkowski at 62 kilos won his division. 
Torian Markvart had the highest total for a sophomore girl in the state's history. 
Gabe Wertel won his division (39kg) in school age, and at the age of 9 he is the youngest competitor in the state's history.
Vince Wertel won the 44 kg school age division.

The Power Sports Athletic Center in Denmark won the team trophy.

The 2011 Wisconsin State Meet will be held in late March in the city of Middleton.

Coach Gremore recently was the instructor for the Level One Sports Performance course, taught in Barrington, Illinois. The course was attended by 18 students from various backgrounds.
